Why Germany?

Why study in Germany

Study at respected universities, mostly without tuition fees, and graduate with a German degree valued in Europe and around the world.

Mostly 0 € tuition

No tuition at most public universities

Well-established public universities such as RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin and Universität Hamburg charge no tuition; you only pay a semester fee of about 70–430 €. Your advisor will clarify the exceptions that do charge tuition (e.g. TUM, Baden-Württemberg).

Academic or applied

Academic or hands-on, your choice

Besides universities that focus on theory and research, Germany has universities that offer practical, industry-oriented degrees. Choose the one that fits your goals; practical programs usually include an internship semester.

Work permit

Work while you study, stay after you graduate

As a student you can work 140 full days or 280 half days a year. After graduating you can get a residence permit of up to 18 months to look for a job in Germany.

Schengen

Explore Europe from Germany

With a German student residence permit you can travel to other Schengen countries without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180 days. At many universities the semester contribution also includes a public transport ticket valid across Germany.
